About the Show
"It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" is a very successful TV series that has aired 13 seasons to date. Their elongated success can be attributed to their satirical and somewhat critical presentation of current events in America and around the world. The five main characters, who turn out to be exceptionally bad people, go about their lives constantly pushing the boundaries of what is politically correct, generating conversation amongst themselves that serves as a means of informing viewers about how they should carry themselves in the world today.

Satire
"It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" is one of the most successful satires that has aired on live TV. In order to appreciate the humor and intent of the show, viewers must first appreciate the delicately crafted characters. The combination of brainlessness, egocentricity, lack of morality, and evil intelligence lead to some pretty offensive and awkward situation for the Gang. The reason this glaring incorrectness is so important, however, is because it brings attention to major issues in our society. These characters are ideally not you. In fact, when looking at them, you should see a perfect example of what not to replicate. So with satire pushing beyond what might be socially acceptable, it makes room for people to speak more freely about many issues that were previously hard to discuss.

Frank
Frank used to be a successful businessman with a career tainted with illegal operations such as drug-dealings, sweatshops, and dealing with terrorists. He is now the majority owner of Paddy’s Irish Pub which he runs with his legal children Dennis and Dee. Frank is fairly wealthy which allows him to fund the gang’s creative and for the most part, illegal, operations out of the pub. His choice to live in foulness with Charlie, his possible biological son, is Frank’s attempt at bringing excitement to his life after his divorce with his ex-wife who we often calls his “whore wife”. Frank, “The Captain of the Gang”, is quite illogical in his decision making, which combined with his blatant disrespect for women, shapes him out to be character sexist and misogynist man.
